SelFou.digital believes that, like Frankenstein’s two personalities, AI’s two-faces are intimately intertwined and make this transformation an even bigger challenge.
In its report tabled this week, the IE University’s Center for the Governance of Change (CGC) states that ‘in the next 50 years, constant change will continue to be the norm, necessitating proactive adaptation from corporations, governments, and society.’ The emergence of generative AI and other disruptive technologies will accelerate change, making it more rapid and exponential than ever before. In this evolving landscape, technology will stand as one of the few inevitable catalysts for change.’
The CGC believes that no single actor holds the key to understanding what lies ahead.
Instead, ‘…progress depends on bringing together diverse stakeholders with unique perspectives, methods, and expertise. By fostering dialogue among these groups, … we can generate more comprehensive insights and strategies to prepare for and shape the future effectively.’
Timothy T Tiryaki, in his post From VUCA to Flux explains that while we had previously referred to our environment as Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous (#VUCA), AI rewrites the rules of business, leadership, and society.
He writes: ‘We are entering an era where change is no longer just volatile—it’s constant and compounding. Uncertainty isn’t just something to anticipate—it’s embedded in the very fabric of AI-powered decision-making. Complexity has taken on new dimensions with AI’s ability to process vast amounts of data, and ambiguity has evolved into uncharted territories where traditional frameworks no longer apply.’
Julian de Freitas in his recent Harvard Business Review (HBR) article Why people resist embracing AI, speaks to more than a decade of research on adoption of the technology (AI), including in-depth qualitative interviews and experiments with some 2,500 users, and how he uncovered what’s driving this resistance to AI:
‘Fundamental human perceptions that AI is too opaque, emotionless, rigid, and independent, and that interacting with humans is far more preferable.’ (Source: HBR, Jan/Feb 2025, Why people resist embracing AI)
All three sources further explain how to manage various aspects of the AI transformation, we have posted them with a synopsis on SelFou.digital. Other sources for you to explore are also available on the SelFou.digital LinkedIn. You may want to make your own mix to fit your organisation’s needs and evolution. As with previous transformations, there is no ‘one size fits all’ but one thing is certain, while VUCA had us puzzled, AI will have us Fluxed! Lol, we could not resist.
